Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 August 2026

This policy describes how Kamak Paperless Ltd collects, uses, and protects information when you use Kalert. Please read it carefully.

1. Who We Are

Kalert is a multi-channel messaging platform built and operated by Kamak Paperless Ltd, a technology company registered in Ghana. Our office is at Anum Tessa Avenue, East Legon, Accra.

We provide businesses and developers with tools to send SMS, Email, and WhatsApp messages at scale, manage sender identities, run campaigns, and track delivery through our platform and API.

When this policy says "Kalert", "we", "us", or "our", it means Kamak Paperless Ltd acting as the operator of the Kalert platform at app.kalert.net.

2. What We Collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and a hashed version of your password. If you represent a business, we may also collect your company name and billing address.

Usage and platform data

We log the actions you take inside the platform: messages sent, campaigns created, templates saved, API keys generated, webhook configurations, credit purchases, and scheduled sends. This data lets us show you your history and generate usage reports.

Message content

To deliver your messages, we process the content you compose and the recipient lists you upload. We store this for delivery, retry, and audit purposes. We do not read or analyse message content for advertising or any purpose beyond delivery and compliance.

Delivery and event data

Delivery providers report back events like sent, delivered, bounced, and complained. For email, we may track opens and link clicks if that feature is enabled on your account. This data is attributed to your messages and shown in your dashboard.

Device and session data

We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and timestamps. We use session tokens stored in cookies to keep you logged in. We do not fingerprint devices or build advertising profiles.

3. How We Use It

Delivering messages. Your message content and recipient data are used solely to dispatch messages through the channels you select and to report delivery status back to you.

Running your account. We use your account information to authenticate you, process credit purchases, send you receipts, and respond to support requests.

Improving the platform. Aggregated, anonymised usage data helps us understand which features are working well and where we should focus development.

Security and fraud prevention. We monitor for unusual activity, abuse of our sending infrastructure, and attempts to bypass rate limits or sender verification.

Legal obligations. We may process data to comply with Ghanaian law, respond to lawful requests from authorities, or enforce our Acceptable Use Policy.

4. Message Data and Your Recipients

When you upload a contact list or type in a recipient address, you are providing us with personal data that belongs to a third party. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to message those people, whether that is consent, a legitimate business relationship, or another ground recognised by applicable law.

We act as a data processor for that recipient data. We will not contact your recipients for our own purposes, sell that list to anyone, or use it to build profiles outside of your account.

Suppression lists, unsubscribes, and bounce records are kept so we can honour recipient opt-outs and protect the deliverability of our platform for all customers.

5. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:

Delivery providers

We pass message content and recipient addresses to providers like Amazon SES, SendGrid, Postmark, and SMS gateway operators in order to deliver your messages. Each provider processes data under its own terms and is bound by standard data protection clauses.

Cloud infrastructure

Kalert runs on cloud infrastructure in Africa and may use services in the EU or US for compute, storage, and logging. We select providers that offer strong security commitments.

Payment processors

Credit purchases are handled by our payment partners. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

Legal requests

If we receive a valid legal order from a competent authority, we may be required to disclose specific data. We will notify you where the law permits us to do so.

Business transfers

If Kamak Paperless Ltd is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may transfer to the new owner, who would be bound by this policy or a successor policy with equivalent protections.

7. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Message logs, delivery events, and campaign records are retained for 12 months by default, after which they are deleted from our primary systems.

If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Some records may be kept for a longer period where we have a legal obligation to do so, for example tax and invoice records which we keep for 7 years under Ghanaian law.

Suppression and unsubscribe records are kept indefinitely to protect your recipients from being contacted after they have opted out.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: TLS for all data in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, hashed passwords, and role-based access controls within our infrastructure.

API keys are hashed before storage. Webhooks are signed with an HMAC secret so you can verify that requests originate from Kalert.

No system is completely immune to risk. If you discover a security issue, please report it to service@kamakgroup.com and we will respond promptly.

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

Deletion

10. International Data Transfers

Kamak Paperless Ltd is based in Ghana. To operate the platform, we use third-party services that may process data in the United States, the European Union, or other jurisdictions. Where data is transferred outside Ghana, we take steps to ensure adequate protections are in place through standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

11. Children

Kalert is a business platform and is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes that affect how we handle your data, we will send a notice to the email address on your account at least 14 days before the change takes effect.

Continuing to use Kalert after a policy update takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
